ok. that I understand. I have no issues, as you know, with using */*.

But what I'm feeling like is that if I verbalize the word or even write the word 'slash', it's now in a category like 'n*****' and look, I can't even type that OUT.

So...if we're TALKING, not reading, how am I supposed to discuss history out loud? I ask that honestly, not snarkily. :)

I thought this was about not separating things for awards, lol. And it really, really evolved from, from my POV here which I admit has been thoroughly tossed like a salad, considering S/H fanfiction as a WHOLE and not its 'slash' or 'gen' parts, into a word that I can't say/write anymore without hurting friends. I've always been proud to be a 'slasher' - because I freaking LOVE reading and writing about two men getting it on. But I think I realize I have to become a Starsky/Hutch and/or a Starsky & Hutch writer. Now I have to think about THAT, too, simply because the fandom is named for the characters!

And no, I don't hold with the "it's the way it's always been done"...but that's all I've ever known it as, either, so I have to reprogram. I beg patience.
