Dreamwide, width, wade, worth, whatever . . .

Okay, I give . . .

The new comm everyone on LJ is squawking about . . .

What?
Where?
Who?
When?

and most importantly . . . WHY???

Since it would seem that basically everyone who is on LJ is migrating to and fro . . .

I don't get it.
I am also a little cranky in a very happy way so . . . grains of salt will be provided . . .

p.s. I just left a gentle reminder honeydo message on the bathroom mirror in LIPSTICK!!! Kinda like Starsk on the window . . . so either she will think it's really funny and cute and I will get a big kiss OR . . . she will dig in her Capricorn heels and NEVER honeydo out of spite . . .

we shall see . . .

Aw...Charles Nelson Reilly. *slips you a bowl of rice pudding* Silly goose.

So yeah, the Dream-hooey thing. I checked it out, because who wants to be left standing on the platform waving goodbye as the 21st Century Limited pulls out of the station with all your fun on board? But you know? Hooey.

I'm going to quit paying attention to alternatives.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, I'm thinking the same . . . I can only handle one thing at a time . . love the icon - am nervous for tonight!!!

[identity profile] mara-snh.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Back atcha about icons. Such a pretty face, that boy.

Yeah, tonight. *shudder* Do you "do" promos? Looks very very.

it's a good backup. They're thinking like real users. They're thinking of fans and what we want. They're not LJ and their questionable decisions.

[identity profile] enednoviel.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
I felt the same way, you know. But LJ's policies and different crap made me worry lately. Still, I never felt there was a real alternative to LJ. After creating an account on DW I thought... wow. Those guys know what they're doing and this is really the first time after years where I actually consider moving. And with me that's saying something. Trust me.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I never notice any policies about LJ - just use it to post stories, etc . . . what kind of crap?

[identity profile] enednoviel.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The new owners of Live Journal made it very clear in some statements that "fans" and "fandom" (especially slash lovers) aren't welcome on Live Journal. This is what bugs me most right now, but there were also incidents that showed the general anti-gay attitude, censorship, journals were deleted at a whim (esp. journals of fan artists with slash art), etc etc. I've been one of the "I'm not moving"-league so far, so I'm sure there were people who paid more attention to all the crap that happened. I didn't want to leave my Live Journal, I like that place. But DW is the first alternative I'm seriously considering. It was created by some people who used to work for Live Journal and were fired over some of the issues I mentioned above. It gives you the option to import your stuff from other places, so you don't really lose anything. The only thing that keeps me at LJ right now is my picture gallery.

when I looked up honeydo it started talking about a man's breasts... Iam either confused or disturbed!

[identity profile] sjames-centre.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
As the recipient of the above mentioned honeydo message (I laughed, and then thought "I wonder how hard it is to get lipstick off the mirror?" a honeydo is a chore, as in "Honey, do the damn kitty litter...."

I never heard of the term either (until I started getting them.) :)

[identity profile] lolabobs.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah I see... I was wondering about the drawing of manbreasts on your bathroom mirror - Not that it's my place to comment if that's how you communicate :P

Now all we need to know is if you did the chore!

[identity profile] sjames-centre.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
God, yes. My beloved has less than love in her heart when it comes to the two (adorable, I say, horrible, she says) cats. Apparently, a clean litter box is their only hope of survival.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
well, as sjames has stated - a honeydo is a play on the word honeydew as in the melon. At craft shows you can get a little magnet on the fridge shaped like a hammer, etc with the word "HoneyDo" on it for to post jobs for the wife/husband to do . . .

[identity profile] lolabobs.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I see!

Now, as a capricorn myself, I just need you to explain the stubborn remark...

:P

I'll wait and see. The grass is greener, and all that. I remember the big to-do about insane journal and that other one (I forget the name)... I spent too much time learning LJ, so I'll be here by myself I guess.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, Im sticking to LJ.

[identity profile] mara-snh.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. I like my style, icon capacity etc. I don't find that LJ has me in its crosshairs. I did open a DW account, so if push comes to shove, I'll be there, but for now, ho-hum.

[identity profile] cynatnite.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have a DW account. There is no difference between them and LJ so I don't see the point. LJ is home.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
that's my initial reaction - we'll see. oh I love that icon, btw . . .

[identity profile] callistosh65.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I got one because I wasn't ready for a "where's everybody going?" moment. But so far everyone seems to still be here, so I don't feel the need to be there too much.

Took me long enough to learn and love life on LJ, so I ain't going nowhere fast. Especially when some lovely gal gifted me up to 2011 right here.*g*

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
you are not allowed to disappear - already miss you around SH!
but I do love the icon - we are gearing up for tonights ep, which should be really really angsty!!!

I haven't been very happy with LJ policies and attitudes, so you could say I was very eager to find alternatives to this.
Dreamwith is that to me: and awesome alternative, fandom friendly and with a Diversity Statement (http://www.dreamwidth.org/legal/diversity) that make me fall in love, deeply.
I love that even the most stupid question or doubt I had was answered. And I love the DreamSheeps *laughs*
I have made it my home, I'm posting from there, as its crossposting tool is awesome, and as easy as tick a ticky-box.
Hell, I'm even buying a premium account, for God's sake! I never, ever considered buy one from LJ. *shrugs*
You should take a look, and then decide.

[identity profile] peg22.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
what kind of policies? I never notice I guess.

LJ had deleted communities and fan-journals. They are officially, and by their own words, no fandom friendly. They put adds on your journal, and you can get up one morning with an homophobic add from a hate-group all in the top of your friends page. This actually happened some days ago, and, as much as the add was took down after people complained, and they even apologize for it, is something is gonna keep happening once and again. And, seriously, I don't want MY place associate with that kind of adds.
And let's not forget they took off some words from the search box: gay, queer, slash, homoerotic, depression... Censorship anyone?
So, no. This is not my place anymore. I haven't deleted my journal... yet. But once I had it imported, and I had my reading filters ready for those who are gonna stay here, I'm done.

PS: And I should learn to type, or, at least, to check what I wrote before hit post *facepalms*
