They're all mine - which is why Simon Cowell is joining the cast this season as jolly cafeteria guy, Thurston.

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4
It's Tuesday and this bit came out of wondering what the heck TPTB were gonna do with all those extra people . . . plus it's been way too long since I played with Dr. McSnarky . . . and blame Cameron for all the sports metaphors. Either that or the NFL games that keep pre-empting Big Brother . . .

Small Change

By Kaye

“And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through . . .”

He wondered when he would stop looking for them. In the office. In the clinic. Around every corner. Bursting off the line, blocking the potential rush from patients, diseases, Cuddy. Protecting the quarterback.  Preserving the passing game.

He wondered why he still used sports metaphors to irritate someone who no longer could hear his sports metaphors. He didn’t wonder long because Wilson, the General Manager of Buzzkill, came up the middle and blocked his field goal attempt – with a stack of resumes for him to look over. To ponder his next play. His new and improved game plan.

He wondered if Wilson’s hair flopped across his forehead when he was fucking-but that was an entirely different ballgame- so he took the files, popped two Vicodin, turned Bowie all the way up, and settled into the second half. He wondered how long it would take to break his metaphor habit – it was getting worse than his drug habit. Dependence. Addiction. Whatever.

“Time may change me, but you can’t trace time . . .” He stared at the empty conference room and wondered how many chairs would fit around the table, but then his attention turned to his office door and the site of the owner of the franchise clicking through. He wondered if Cuddy’s lips pursed like that when she was fucking-but that was pay-per-view only-so he propped a foot up on his desk and told her he wanted them all.

“This general needs more troops. The battle against death and disease is won or lost in the trenches, Cuddy, and our trenches are woefully empty . . .”

He wondered when his metaphors had turned as lame as his leg. He wondered why Cuddy just rolled her eyes and left him alone again with Bowie and too much space and not enough pills to make any of it go away. He wondered if Cuddy’s hair would fall over Wilson’s face when they were fucking-but that felt too much like a last straw-so he grabbed the files and the phone and set about hiring dozens of  over-eager second string wanna-bes,  tossing his final Hail Mary into the waiting arms of nobody he actually knew.

Nothing good ever came from familiarity anyway.

You're mainlining House as usual - just the throway stuff is perfect ..so he took the files, popped two Vicodin, turned Bowie all the way up, and settled into the second half. He wondered how long it would take to break his metaphor habit There's my House. In all his glory. And Wilson as the Genreal Manager of Buzzkill made me giggle.
Should I be worried about S4, though? I mean, where are they going with all these new folk, and Cuddy?? and Wilson??

Wow. First of all, I love that song. Second of all, this evoked a lot of House's potential preoccupations in season 4, and did it really interestingly. Are you going to expand it?

Wilson, the General Manager of Buzzkill

HEE!!! That's just too perfect, both in that's exactly how House sees him, and in that's exactly how he'd phrase it. Brava!
