It was bound to happen. Unavoidable, really.

My very first Torchwood fic. Just a double drabble. Since I only dabble.
Could be spoiler-ish. Not really. Just observations by my favorite Tea Boy.

It's Jack/Ianto
Separately so delicious. Together they make fangirls head explode. In a good way.

You’re the one who makes the tea. Which is why you hand him a beer as he brushes by you to lick his wounds in his office. You’re the one who makes the tea because you know when he needs tea. And when he needs a quick snog before the others come crashing through the morning stillness of the Hub. Or when there’s a practical use for a stopwatch. Or a straight man. Certainly an anomaly since everyone knows the one thing Captain Jack Harkness has hardly any use for is a straight man.

You’re the one who makes the coffee. Which is why you pull out the bottle of single malt hidden inside the biscuit tin and place it on his desk. You’re also the one who first notices that even though he came back, he’s not all there. Or here. But you know he’s made his decision and you know he’ll never waver from it, even in the darkness of a night that stretches endlessly in front of him. And with his breath ragged against your neck, his hand fisted in your hair, his chest shoving you hard against the wall, you realize you’re also what he wants.

it's interesting because I came to Captain Jack (ahem!) via Torchwood and have yet to see him with his Doctor . . .

So I kinda like his "weighty-ness"

You must watch season 2, though - it's the best yet.

And now I've been sucked into the love that is the Doctor as well . . . 3 episodes and I'm hooked - and they're Martha eps!

Oh, my friend--you are in for =such= a treat!! Get your hands on season one DW. Not only is Jack introduced in The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (a two part ep), but that storyline is arguably the best of that season and possibly the entire run of the "new" show. I just love it! Jack sticks around for five eps in season one. Only one of those is a throwaway, the other four are all pivotal and really entertaining.

It was great when he returned in season three. But I have to confess--I liked Rose. Martha leaves me cold. So my fondness is for more seasons one and two DW, than season three.

Following up on your advice, I'll see if I can't track down season two of Torchwood. I watched all of season one, but I really wasn't impressed. Like I said, his supporting cast made me want to pinch them. :-)

Let me add a hearty oh yeah for The Empty Chair/The Doctor Dances. I had already seen Jack in other eps of DW before I saw those two. And didn't actually like him all that much. But seeing him right from his 'beginnings' changed everything. Not only are the scripts of these WWII wartime London eps sublime and the acting is wonderful by all the actors, but the trio of Rose, The Doctor and Capt. Jack just fit together so absolutely perfectly that you never want Jack to leave!

Rose is my favorite of the female companions recently, but Jack can drop by the Tardis any ol'time.

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. :-) I loved how the Doctor, Rose and Jack worked together. I, too, would love to see the Captain travel with the Doc more frequently. But they gave his this danged team in Cardiff to worry about.

And you know how I feel about them. ;-)
