Drabble for Thayln . . . finally!

So after a bout of influenza and a visit to the states and days of everything BUT words on a page, including classes in a most irritating language (je suis fatique), I managed to peck out this little Hawkeye/BJ for the lyrically prose gifted Thayln, as per the meme of a thousand springs ago . . .

You know, hawk and bj always seemed to me to be the perfect slash boys. The circumstance of their friendship, Hawk's inherited from Alan Alda's emo tendencies, bj's underlying need to be needed . . . well, I am sure they tumbled together on many occasion. And I love them both for it . . . of course this ditty is but a pale attempt to capture some of that angst and desperation . . . hope it works.

He comes to me at night. After endless hours of of sutures and sorrow, in the aftermath of another blood-smeared day.  He waits outside Post-Op, leaning his long limbs just out of the light.  I attempt levity, a quip, but he just drags me around the corner and shoves me against the wall, his hands making quick work of my protest. His lips search and destroy. Punish. I know it’s not me. It’s this place he’s trying to forget, leaving it behind in a trail of faint bruises on my flesh. I welcome him, wrap myself in his grief, exhale my own, and for a moment, we are nowhere. But then a tent door slams and he tears himself away, shoves a hand through his hair, and disappears back into the light.  And I am left with nothing.

Well, I gotta admit, having loudly proclaimed my Hawk/Trap ship here on this very journal, I then went out and got all eleven seasons, and I've fallen in intense like with BJ. I still don't see a sexual vibe between the two. However, I do wish he'd have had more screen time because I really do like his character in a way I didn't before.

oh so glad to see you coming into the light! I think the fic made me see a slash connection - and a few eps . . . I think it's probably like other shows (as opposed to the slash king, SH) where you really have to look for it - oh yeah, like Stargate Atlantis I think . . . but I still do see some Hawk Trap slash too . . .

I think it's hard for me to see slash because I see their relationship as totally different than the one that Hawkeye had with Trapper. With Hawk and Trap, it was all hard edges and sharp knives, where with BJ it's calmer with BJ often playing parent to Hawkeye's increasing instability. And I adore the episode where BJ falls off the wagon for a night, and his incredible guilt and remorse over it, and his continuing attraction to the woman in question, and his guilt over that. I find myself respecting him too much to put him into a slash relationship not because it's gay, god knows, so am I, but because it's outside of his marriage, which had clearly made him so very miserable. I guess I just don't want to put him through that. :D

I acutally had to stop watching when I got to season seven, because it became the Alan Alda show. Very little about BJ, who I'm really interested in seeing more of. I'll give it a little rest and go back to it.
