So here's the week at a glance:

Parents visited. Went swimmingly. Lots of pipe organs and HIGH MASS. Hutch was on her best behavior. You know how good Hutch is with parents . . .

Sprained ankle. Carting the 55 lb suitcase of the mother who packed an entire bag of "canadian apples" in her case. (side note - why are there no Jonathan Apples in Quebec? They are the BEST)

Caught a cold/fever/chill/cough . . . blah. And there are essays and journals languishing on  my dining table, begging to be graded and all I can do is lie on the couch and watch HBO movies.

Thanksgiving head count: 11
Chairs in the condo: 6

Hutch will not allow either stovetop stuffing OR green bean casserole.
(side note - she did buy me a single serving of stovetop - just add water)

Got a the yummiest of yummy surprises this evening - Hutch brought home a bag from LUSH. OH Laura, Laura. Laura - I get it now!
Am in love with the soap and the soap and the rubbing bar that turns into body butter . . . laws.

And now it's time for Supernatural.  So it's all good.

Glad the parental visit went well - thank God for Hutch, eh? And you just lie back, sniffle, and soak up the HBO, bachgen. Sounds like a plan to me.

Take care xxx

yes, Hutch is turning out to be a very smart decision on my part . . .

watching the 6 part National Park series by Ken Burns. Hard not to fire up the Torino and head out to the Wild West!

yeah so I'm pretty sure I can work out what stovetop stuffing is but ... em, what's stovetop stuffing?

oh girl - invented in the 70s with the advertising slogan to use stuffing instead of potatoes at the family supper table. In a box with crumbs and seasoning packet. Just boil water and stir . . .

it's so bad it's very good. Had it alot in my youth - destroyed my taste for real stuffing - which is a shame, but I am a victim of good marketing!

Hee!

Sorry about your cold/fever/chill/cough and sprained ankle. Those suck. Sorry too about the chair count. Somehow I feel certain you guys will work it out.

I have to say I am RIGHT there with Hutch re: Stovetop Stuffing (stuffing is my fav part of the Thanksgiving feast). I must differ on green bean casserole, as that's a standard in the Ancasta family feast.

It sounds like you had a nice family visit. That's always good. :-) Enjoy your weekend.

Am victim to good 70s advertising - "How bout stuffing instead of those boring potatoes . . ." probably ran during S/H - or Sonny and Cher . . .

yes, well, she promised me an American Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving . . . with green cool whip jello salad as well . . .

am sending good vibes your way, as well - fingers crossed for all good outcomes . . .

Sounds like you had a good time. And I've gotta say, I'm with Hutch on the stuffing - there's nothing like good homemade stuffing to make a meal feel like a celebration.

Take care of yourself and rest up before the big day.

yes, it's that American addiction to take the food out of food!

I'm just waiting for the house to fill up with smells of cooking and baking! Sigh . . . have a good holiday! We'll be having blueberries from your part of the world - cheers!
